Sung Joo Hyun Wins the 2021 World Poker Tour DeepStacks $1,600 Buy-in No-Limit Hold’em
The event which was held at the Venetian Resort, Las Vegas, fielded a total of 812 entries with an initial guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. The initial guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 was surpassed and more than doubled due to a large number of entries. With the new guaranteed prize pool of $1,161,160 given out to 102 top finishers.
At the final table of 9 players, Hyun was the last man standing, winning the prize money of $208,335. This winning is for a fact the biggest win in his career, having previously triumphed over 2,307 entries in a $500 buy-in WSOP Online Event and won prize money of $161,898, earning him the first World Series of Poker gold bracelet win in 2020.
The South Korean now has a total career tournament earnings of $699,320 and now ranks 7th on the 2021 Player Of the Year table, having been awarded 912 Card Player POY points at the 2021 World Poker Tour DeepStacks Venetian Main Event.
Featured in the event were notable poker players, including WSOP bracelet winners Joey Weiss man, who placed 11th and won himself a $16,920 prize money, and Erik Cajelais, who finished at 17th with $11,120 winnings. Also present was the WPT champion Joe Tehan, who finished 31st and walked away with prize money of $5,330, and the three-time WPT champion and two-time bracelet winner Anthony Zinno who had a shabby run and placed at 37th securing a $4,635 prize.

Aaron Massey won $4,635, having finished at 38th, and Oddie Dardon finished at 43rd, with a winning of $4,635.
WPT Championship winner Asker Conniff, who finished in 76th position with $3,090 in winnings, placed higher than WSOP Circuit main event winners Javier Zarco at 81st ($3,090) and Michael Trivett at 90th ($2,835). WSOP bracelet winner Ronnie Bardah also participated but exited as the 92nd with prize money of $2,585.
At the heads-up play of the 2021 WPT DeepStack final table, Hyun went up against Roman Shainiuk with 13,310,000 and 11,050,000 chips, respectively. At the dealing of the final hand, Hyun had extended the lead by a ratio of 4:1 and went on to win the pot and the WPT DeepStack 2021 championship title with prize money of $208,335, while Shainiuk walked away with $144,480 as the runner-up.
